Buddy Guy - This man has got to be the greatest bluesman ever. That's a strong statement to make, but Buddy Guy lives up to it! His live shows are unparalleled for showmanship, musicianship, and downright nasty guitar playing! And vocally, he is incredible! His range, his phrasing... Listen to his live stuff and you'll be blown away. |
Albert King - He is the true king of the blues. Cadillac Assembly line is one of the all time greats that no one plays anymore. I can't even find lyrics for it on the internet! SRV copped all his licks and even imitates his vocal style on "cold shot"! |
Albert Collins - Who doesn't LOVE this guy? Nobody is "cooler" than Albert Collins. Always a killer rhythm section, with horns and the whole nine, and a wicked capoed minor tuning on that signature telecaster! Songwriting hooks like "Too many dirty dishes for just us two", "If trouble was money", and "Whatcha gonna do when the welfare turns its back on you"... enough said! |

Gary Moore - Honestly, this guy has influenced my guitar playing more than anyone else. I love his hi-gain Les Paul/Marshall tone. It gives his blues stuff an edge that screams emotion. Listen to the solo on "Story of the Blues" from his "Blues Alive" album. That last bend gets my endorphins pumping every time! |
